Labor and Employment
NAHB believes all employers and employees have the right to lawfully set working conditions and wages using clear, easily repeatable procedures that benefit workers and the businesses for which they work.
As part of this effort, NAHB works with the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and other agencies to help its members understand their obligations in accordance with federal laws on overtime pay, employee classification, federal contractor wage rates, union representation elections, and more.
At the same time, access to workers remains critical to keep up with current housing demand, and NAHB pursues immigration policies that complement ongoing workforce development efforts and help fill labor gaps. Ensuring a consistent, reliable influx of new workers and creating an environment that encourages workers to stay in residential construction are important in an industry that is continuing to grow.
