2017 NAHB Remodeler of the Year Award Recipient
Thomas Ashley Jr., CAPS, CGP, CGR
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers honored Thomas Ashley Jr., CAPS, CGP, CGR, a remodeler from Denham Springs, La., with its highest remodeling achievement award, the 2017 NAHB Remodeler of the Year. The award recognizes superior business management and customer service, exemplary NAHB and community involvement and outstanding contributions to the remodeling industry. Ashley was honored on Jan. 10, 2018, at the NAHB Remodelers All-Stars Celebration during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.
“Tom Ashley Jr. has become a respected remodeler over the last two decades through dedication to providing quality work for his customers, sincere enthusiasm to give back to his local community and deep involvement in the industry on the local and national levels,” said NAHB Remodelers Chairman Dan Bawden, CAPS, GMB, CGR, CGP, of Houston. “We are delighted to recognize his achievements with NAHB Remodelers’ most prestigious award.”
Ashley has over 20 years of remodeling experience in the Baton Rouge area, and founded his company, Expand Inc., in 1999. As a member of the Capital Region Builders Association (CRBA) and NAHB Remodelers since 2000, Ashley has served in local and national leadership roles for both organizations, including 2005 Chair of the CRBA Remodelers Council, 2009 Chair of the CRBA, 2008 Chair of the Louisiana Home Builders Association and a NAHB Lifetime Director since 2006.
Ashley has previously won the 2016 NAHB Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist of the Year and 2016 CRBA Builder of the Year. He has been involved with many community service projects, including spearheading a home remodel for a man who lost both of his legs in a car accident. Ashley has also actively raised money and donated supplies for other home builders associations that have faced natural disasters, including the Great Flood throughout Louisiana in 2016 and Hurricane Harvey in Texas.
