CADRE Award Recipients

The winner is Greater Houston Builders Association Remodelers Council. The GHBA has been instrumental promoting the Houston Remodelers Council’s campaign of “Hire a Professional Remodeler.” This campaign previously won this award in 2009, and it’s also won Houston’s Best PRISM Awards for Best Promotion in 2009 and 2010; as well as the Texas Association of Builders Award in 2010. “Hire a Professional Remodeler” is featured in various public campaigns, including the Houston Remodeling Guide with a reach of over 100,000 people and in the Houston Chronicle which reach over 1.4 million people. The success over the last 20 years has helped thousands of Houstonians in need of Professional Remodeling Services.

The winner is Greater Iowa City Area HBA Remodelers Council. The council focused on events, participation, awareness, and a large member-recruiting campaign, culminating in expanded council awareness, increased number of events, partnerships and increased membership. The remodelers council membership more than doubled in a year’s time and was the fastest-growing of all remodelers councils across the country.

The winner is Greater Houston Builders Association Remodelers Council. The GHBA Remodelers Council strongly believes in sharing its expertise with community non-profit organizations, specifically with a goal of improving facilities that serve the homeless. The GHBA has had a 16-year partnership with HomeAid of Houston to provide remodeling and small construction services to area homeless care agencies. In April 2019, over 50 volunteers from the remodelers council — representing over 40 companies — worked closely to remodel several apartments to benefit an organization committed to providing housing and services for homeless men who suffer from addiction and/or are HIV positive. The council also worked with the Santa Maria Hostel, which provides services to women including homeless female veterans, to renovate and make improvements to a multi-purpose area.

Amy Robinson of the Greater Houston Builders Association Remodelers Council. Amy Robinson has been on the Remodelers Council Board for 20 years and has been a devoted advocate, volunteer and supporter of every GHBA Remodelers Council event. Amy works tirelessly as a dedicated and positive force in helping to increase revenue, awareness and success of the council. She was instrumental in establishing a relationship with the Houston Chronicle, the largest daily newspaper in the city and the third-largest newspaper by Sunday circulation in the U.S. The Houston Chronicle has since featured the work of GHBA Professional Remodelers for the last 19 years. Amy was presented with the 2013 Presidential Citation by the GHBA for her many years of service and has since been recognized for single-handedly coordinating the remodeling member advertising and articles in the annual Houston Remodelers Guide.

Danna Markland from the HBA of Richmond. Danna is a dedicated and dynamic leader who brings professionalism and grace to her position as CEO of the HBA of Richmond. Danna has been instrumental in supporting the needs of the 580+ HBAR members, board and councils. As a single-mother of a 5-year old son, Danna still consistently makes time for and supports the Remodelers Council. She has coordinated a CAPS certification class, many other educational programs and led community service projects to benefit the remodelers council. Danna was a leading voice in re-establishing the council and was recently recognized as the Most Outstanding Executive Officer by the state HBA.

Frank Makoski from the HBA of Greater Cleveland. Frank has been the chairman of the HBA of Greater Cleveland’s remodelers council for an incredible 5 years, which during that time he has been involved in every facet of the council and also serves on the HBA of Greater Cleveland Board of Trustees. Frank places high value on education, specifically the NAHB designations. He also operates a business in a professional manner always with the client’s goals in mind. Frank was awarded the “Presidential Award of Merit” and is a dedicated NAHB Spike member with over 75 spikes to date. Frank continually strives to increase the involvement of the council in the community, working with local businesses, Booster Clubs, and other organizations to create long-standing relationships.
